New content series coming soon!

Hello Readers

I’ve been quite lazy with the site lately, but that’s about to change. As part of my degree I’m going to be carrying out an investigative study into synthpop in the early 1980s, and how today’s technology can be used to replicate sounds generated by gear from the time.

The plan at this stage is to use Reason to replicate a whole load of classic synth sounds. I’ve been listening to loads of synthpop in preparation for this, and I’ve already picked out a few of the sounds I’ll be focusing on. The ultimate plan is to put together a Reason Refill of patches and samples that I’ll make available to download for free online, and then record a track in the synthpop style using patches from that Refill. I’ve wanted to do an 80s style pop song ever since I saw “Pop goes my Heart” from the film “Music and Lyrics”, and now I have a valid excuse to do one!

I’ll be posting updates and tutorials on here as I go using the tag “Investigative Study”, so if you want to keep track of the posts that relate to this project then all you need to do is follow the link below.

I’m very excited about this project, because I’m a huge fan of synthpop, so it’ll be great to experiment with the genre.

I shall leave you with the wonderful Hugh Grant, and Pop Goes My Heart. Click the image, as embedding is disabled by Youtube.
