Big Stack of Vinyl

It’s time for me to make more excuses. I’m all moved into my new house, and I’m reasonably well set up. There’s a new problem though; my faithful laptop is dead as a dodo – massive hardware failure. I’m unable to do any recording, screencasts or video editing until I get a new laptop, so in the meantime I’m going to revert to bog standard everyday blogging.

I’m a vinyl nut; I’ve got a huge collection of albums and singles, and I love my turntable (a Thorens TD 280). I’ve not used it much over the last year because it was tucked away in the corner in my old bedroom, but in my new room it’s here beside me at my desk, within easy reach.

I’ve not bought many new records recently, but I have a big box of records I’ve not played yet that I was given, so I’ve been spending my evenings going through them, discovering new music along the way. I found an especially nice copy of Led Zeppelin III in the box that I forgot I had, and that put a big smile on my face. I also found a couple of Ultravox albums (Midge Ure era) and Roger Daltrey’s “Ride a Rock Horse”. It’s the singles I’ve had the most fun with though, I get a lot of pleasure from 45s, even if they are a bit muddy sounding at times. I’ve played all kinds, from Chic to the Sex Pistols, via Queen and John Lennon. I forgot how much I loved “Working Class Hero”, and it was a nice surprise to find it, along with its A-Side, Imagine.

I can think of worse ways to spend my nights

The replica mens longines conquest watches Conquest was the first step in a new development and marketing strategy with a named line or family of watches. Many more were to follow, but the venerable Conquest (such a killer name too…) was the beginning. Having a named family of watches certainly wasn’t introduced by Longines, but they definitely utilized the strategy to its fullest potential, and still use it today (as do most modern brands). After the Conquest came the Flagship, then the Admiral and Grand Prize among others.
